Get Down, Dog!

Ruger is NOT allowed on the bed.  Absolutely no way!  His gigantic yellow lab butt is way too big for a queen size bed.  But he’s been under a lot of stress the last couple of weeks as I’ve started packing up the house.  He doesn’t know exactly what’s going on, just that something’s happening.  So I wasn’t surprised when he randomly jumped up there as I headed to bed.

I tried to call him off.  Then I yelled at him to get down.  Didn’t work.  I tried pulling by his collar to which he immediately pulled against.  I tried shoving him off by the rear, and he dug his heels in.  My final effort was to push him by his side off the edge.  That lug rolled over onto his back and stuck his feet in the air.

I went to bed with him right beside me.

We should be that stubborn and set on doing the things that God asks of us.  When the world asks us to jump in and do what ‘everyone else is doing,’ our response should be one of firm standing.  We shouldn’t be jumping off the edge because it feels good.  We should be rooted in the foundation that is Christ Jesus.

When satan attempts to shove us off the path, we should be ready and determined to not budge.  When we are planted firmly in our faith in Christ Jesus, the world will see.  Satan will know, and he’ll have no choice but to step back and resign himself to knowing we’re not going anywhere he has planned for us.

I encourage you to be stubborn and steadfast in your following of Christ.  The payoff is worth every minute in the soft refuge of His arms.

Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith -Colossians 2_6-7a
